Got a call from Jim's "primary care physician" (and I use that term loosely) the other day informing us that his test results were in and he has C-diff. Gee, thanks for the news. Too bad it's about a month late. How'd they get those results over to ya...did they walk them over from out of state or something?

I had to call the zoning officer in town the other day and we had a nice long conversation...just shooting the breeze...and he tells me that he just had quadruple bypass surgery and came down with something called C-diff. And of course I said, "Funny you should say that..." but I asked how he was doing now that he's off the flagyl and he said fine...knock on wood. I just worry about the damn thing coming back. And man...I hope I haven't picked it up because I just had apocalypse of the colon today and I grabbed one of Jim's flagyl pills. One flagyl won't be enough to permanently kill anything so if it doesn't come back I guess I'm o.k. If it does at least I know who to call. Luckily they gave Jim extra pills so he could afford to give me one. I actually had to bring a towel with me today to pick up Jimmy from the bus in case I had an accident. Luckily I didn't. At least that flagyl bought me enough time to get back and forth from the bus.

And it turns out I didn't have to give up my gastroenterologist appointment. I met with Lady Gastro the other day and went through my history with her and by the time she got three pages scribbled out she says, "Any more? No? Boy, I'm exhausted." Part of the reason I went was that I've been having symptoms reminiscent of what I went through 20 years ago and I don't want it to escalate to what it did, and part of me would also like to find out if maybe medical science has advanced and I can finally get a diagnosis instead of just finding a drug that helps and saying, "Oh well." So I have to go for some sort of breath test to measure the bacteria in my gut, and she also wants me to go for a mamometry test...the same test Jim is supposed to go for...to measure the stength of the muscles that push the food down. I can get it past my throat, but she thinks it's sticking in the esophagus. So we can have his and hers mamometry studies. How romantic.

And I heard that there's a rumor going around Miele that I need surgery. I can assure everyone...I don't need surgery. At least that I know of. Maybe someone out there knows more than I do. I'm o.k....really. The only thing I am putting off this year is the veneers on my front teeth. It's just too much money for me to spend right now when Jim needs so much more urgent stuff.

I also couldn't keep my mouth shut with Jimmy's camp. I stewed overnight and then I called and said, "Have the parents of the other boy taught their son that it's not right to take things that don't belong to you?" I figured, if these whiny people are going to bitch about my kid them I'm comin' right back at ya.

So far the lightning incident only cost us $187. The HVAC people came and replaced the parts for the air conditioning at no charge. Turns out one thermostat was fried too, but they replaced it. The only thing I had to pay for was a new electronic board for my garage door opener.

I've decided now that I'm going to start playing the lottery on a regular basis. I can invest a couple dollars a week.
